Original - Self-seeded Wattle 2023

$390.00
Only 1 available

This series of Australian native plants are some of my favourites. They were drawn when recovering from an injury when I could not teach. Each drawing is 29.5 x 42cm and took around 50 hours and show a great deal of detail. They explore a wide tonal range of darks to lights, a balance of softness with some crisp, delicate details. This is an original unframed drawing by Katrina using a range of charcoal pencils, on 300gsm cotton rag paper with a lovely medium texture. I recommend float mounting with a wide white background and a natural wood or charcoal black simple square frame. As the images are drawn all the way to the edges, do not chop off the image using any window mounting. Hand signed and sprayed with fixative so it will not smudge. This beautiful, soft, feathery, Wattle self-seeded in our front native garden, so we left it to grow. The composition purposefully divides the paper into quarters, is very calming and has a lovely feeling of balance.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners

I acknowledge that the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation are the Traditional Owners of the land on which my studio sits. I pay my respects to their Elders, past and present, and the Aboriginal Elders of other communities.
